Yellow Gold
Yellow gold is closest to gold's natural color, alloyed with metals like copper and silver in proportions that preserve its warm tone. The higher the karat, the more saturated and yellow it looks — 18K yellow gold has a noticeably richer color than 10K. It's the most traditional option and tends to suit warmer skin tones especially well, though it works broadly across most tones.
White Gold
White gold is yellow gold alloyed with white metals — typically palladium or nickel — to neutralize its natural warmth into a cool, silvery tone. Many white gold pieces are also finished with a rhodium plating for extra brightness, which means the very brightest white gold pieces will need occasional rhodium re-plating over years of wear as that thin finish wears down (the gold underneath doesn't change — just the surface shine). White gold tends to suit cooler skin tones and pairs naturally with platinum or silver-toned accessories.
Rose Gold
Rose gold gets its pink-toned warmth from a higher proportion of copper in the alloy.
